The Onjo of Okeho, HRM Oba Rafiu Mustapha Osuolale in Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State has charged all Yorubas to ensure that the traditional religion is not gone into extinction.
The monarch, popularly known as ‘Onjo Oba Oke-Ogun made this admonition while participating at the celebration organised by Comrade Wasiu Hamzat(Big Gass) for yearly antonement for the ‘Goddess of Iron’.
The event which was organised amidst ecstasy and grandeur took place at LA Primary School Olele, Okeho on Thursday, 2nd December, 2025.
In his reiteration, Onjo emphasised on complete sustenance of the traditional religion as notable path that upholds all norms, culture, arts and tradition in Yorubaland.
He tasked people not to allow modern civilization to kill the traditional religion, as it remains one of the ways through which Yoruba can be identified.
In his own submission, Comrade Wasiu Hamzat known as ‘ Big Gass ‘ hinted that an sacrifice to the Goddess of Iron has become a yearly celebration where sons and daughters of Lafaya Compound, Okeho, the headquarters of Kajola Local Government would have to make their participation and attendance.
He said, sacrifice to Goddess of Iron’ has become annual tradition that he needs to co-ordinate, so as to sustain the usual practice of his forefathers.
On January 2nd that is chosen for the programme, Big Gass disclosed that it is a day that is coincidental with public holiday, and which will also enable interested participants to attend and go back to their places of work after its completion.
Big Gass appreciated people who came from both near and far, for the celebration and however wished them journey mercy to their respective destinations.
Earlier, people from different destinations were converged around the Goddess of Iron’ (Ògún Àjobo) located at Lafaya Compound, Okeho to make sacrifice in form of hen, kola, dog, tortoises and prayers for advancement and prosperity in their lives’ endeavours.
Among them were Chief Mufutau Atepa( Ogan Chief Hunter), Idowu Iroko, Raheem Iroko, Lukman Enukami, sons and daughters of Lafaya Compound, many hunters and dignitaries among others.
