    • Explains How Population Explosion, Ignorance Responsible For Cholera Outbreak in Lagos

The Sabiganna of Iganna Kingdom and Chairman, Traditional Council in Iwajowa Local Government, Area of Oyo State, HRM Oba Soliu Oyemonla Tèlà Azeez has called on government and citizen to have strict adherence to their major roles, so that their relationship would be like that of father to son.

Oba Agunloye IV made this advice while in an exclusive interaction with acrossnigerianews.com in his place on Thursday, July 4th, 2024.

His Royal Majesty, who just returned from London hinted that Western World is an organised society where government and citizens are enjoying perfect and smooth synergy with each other.

Oba Ilufemiloye I substantiated that, government becomes responsive to the citizens with firm commitment to its obligatory duties which are characterised as provision of infrastructural facilities, security, functional education, care for the aged, unemployed and physically challenged ones among others.

The Monarch added that the citizens reciprocate gestures to the government via hard work, sincerity, contribution to Gross Domestic Products(GDP) and obedience to laid down rules and regulations among others.

Unlike Nigeria where he lamented that the government and the governed do not trust each other, sequel to lack of confidence, sincerity, disobedience to rules, and absolute abandonment of obligatory duties among others.

Oba Oyemonla however charged Nigerian leaders to work on efficient implementation of blueprints which would unequivocally make life better for all and sundry.

The Monarch noted that, when Nigeria becomes a comfort zone as that of the western world, there is every possibility that there would be no crimes and insecurity that keep disturbing the country.

On Cholera Epidemic, he attributed population explosion and ignorance as the main causes of the disease in Lagos State.

In his explanation, he expatiated that the congestion of population in a city where government cannot cater for all, had truly responsible for the cause and spread of the pernicious disease.

He added that, people’s ignorance in environment where they reside and carelessness to hygienic practices had also triggered the contraction of the disease.

On precaution, the Monarch however charged people to comply with government’s directives, live in a clean environment, drink purified water, eat warm food and at large take to general precautions.

On his leadership and general roles as the Sabiganna of the ancient town, he described himself as a structural engineer who is saddled with the responsibility of mapping out strategies to restructure his domain physically, socially and economically to meet up with modern challenges.

He said, he embarked on this task so that the community, which earlier had no standard town planning would henceforth have planning for parks, market places, schools, hospitals, churches, mosques and others in a place that is mapped for habitation.

On the whole,he seeks the cooperation of Iganna indigenes home and in Diaspora in taking the kingdom to its pride of place. All hands must be on deck to achieve this feat.
