The Sabiganna of Iganna Kingdom and Chairman, Council of Traditional Rulers in Iwajowa Local Government, Area of Oyo State, HRM Oba(Diamond) Saliu Oyemonla Azeez Agunloye IV Ayefemiloye I has gifted cash to over 105 widows in the community.
An undisclosed cash in the sealed envelopes, was presented to the beneficiaries at Oba Sabiganna’s 1st Annual Ramadan Lecture that took place on Saturday, 16th March at Iganna Town Hall.
Mrs Mopelola Hammed, Mrs Musili Aduke, Mrs Sarah Eyinade and Mrs Rashidat Hammed are parts of the beneficiaries, who showed appreciation to the monarch over philanthropic gesture that was extended to them.
While speaking, the monarch who doubled as the Chief Host, disclosed that the cash given to selected widows was done at the instance of “Iganna Heritage Foundation”.
Oba Azeez Agunloye IV maintained that the generosity extended to them via registered Iganna Heritage Foundation, aimed at putting smiles on those people in order to cushion the effects of current hardship.
The monarch said, those who benefited from cash were carefully selected, with no regard to religion, politics and other sentimental dichotomies, asking people whose turn had yet to come, to be patient and forward looking to subsequent engagements.
On purpose of Ramadan Lecture, Oba Sabiganna revealed that, it was meant to call on God almighty in order to justify his reign that is known for restoration of glories.
He maintained that, while the programme had been acknowledged as an avenue to turn to God almighty; people in the community should henceforth refrain from hypocrisy and other forms of dastardly acts in order not to be denied of bountiful blessings from God.
The Guest Lecturer, Sheikh AbdulAfeez AbdulKareem Sarumi(Al Mufty of Oyo Land) in his lecture(Security Challenges and Way Forward) said, Colonization of Nigeria by the British, Amalgamation of Northern/Southern Regions and Immunity granted to top echelon of leaders across the country orchestrate insecurity in Nigeria.
He however opined that the issue of insecurity would be tackled, if people could turn to God, refrain from hypocrisy, ensure consistent prayers and worship God wholeheartedly.
Prayers were offered by notable Islamic Clerics for the community, among whom were Alhaji Dr. Amzat Surakat Aibinu(Chief Imam of Iganna Land), Khalipha Sheikh Al-Falaky and others.
The epoch making occasion had in attendance of Oba Sabiganna, Iganna Council of Chiefs, Iganna League of Imams & Alfas, Iganna LCDA Political Head, Hon. Bello Olori, PDP Chairmanship Candidate for Iwajowa Local Government at the next council poll, Hon. Muritala Oyewumi, Islamic Societies, cash beneficiaries and host of others.
