Barrister Michael Lana, former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Oyo State, has praised the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, for his steadfastness in resisting external influence regarding chieftaincy titles.

In a statement released by his Media Office, Lana commended the Olubadan Advisory Council for supporting the monarch’s position. He emphasized that Oba Olakulehin’s actions have enhanced the prestige of the revered throne.
Lana highlighted the Olubadan’s decision to refrain from involvement in matters currently before the courts, describing it as a judicious and commendable approach to legal issues.
The Oyo State Advisory Council member asserted that those attempting to pressure the Olubadan for personal gain are acting against the best interests of Ibadan.
The statement further reads: “I sincerely thank our royal father, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, and the Advisory Council for resisting pressure from individuals seeking undeserved chieftaincy titles through personal connections with some Council members. This is particularly pertinent in cases like the Sukuru matter, which is currently sub judice.
The Olubadan’s decision to avoid any action that could be construed as conflicting with the court’s proceedings is commendable. The legal position is unambiguous: once a matter is in litigation, all parties must refrain from actions that could prejudice the outcome.”
