The Itesiwaju Local Government chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is in mourning, following the sudden passing of Hon. Sola Oguntona, a prominent party member from Baba-Ode.
The news has elicited a wave of grief and condolences, with notable figures, including Kola Olabiyi, expressing deep sorrow over the loss.

This is contained in a condolence statement, which he personally signed and made available to acrossnigerianews.com

Olabiyi, the Chief Financial Officer, CFO of FGN Power Company Limited and a respected political figure, recounted his long-standing relationship and political journey with the late Oguntona, that began in 1998.

“Our paths crossed in 1998,” Olabiyi recalled, “when he was aspiring to be a Councillor, and I was seeking the chairmanship of the local government. From that moment, Hon. Oguntona proved to be a good brother, a dependable ally, a staunch loyalist, and a progressively minded person.”

He hinted that the bond between him and late Oguntona extended beyond mere political association, evolving into a deep personal connection.

Olabiyi emphasized Oguntona’s unwavering commitment to the APC and his dedication to the development of Itesiwaju Local Government. “He was a pillar of our party, always ready to contribute his time and resources for the betterment of our community,” Olabiyi stated.

Olabiyi revealed that he spoke with Hon. Oguntona on thursday, 20th March, 2025 and he was full of life, not knowing that would be the last time.

“Even on sick bed, he was so concerned about the unity of the Party,” Olabiyi recalled.

Highlighting the sudden and unexpected nature of Oguntona’s demise. “It is quite unfortunate that he said goodbye to this life when his wisdom and political experience were so much needed. “Olabiyi acknowledged the inevitability of death, stating that Sola departure leaves a void that will be difficult to fill,” he said.

The APC in Itesiwaju Local Government is now left to grapple with the loss of a key member, a man described as a dedicated and loyal servant.

The community mourns the passing of Hon. Sola Oguntona, remembering him for his contributions to the party and his unwavering commitment to the people of Baba-Ode and Itesiwaju Local Government.
His legacy of service and dedication will undoubtedly live on in our hearts. May Sola soul rest in peace, and God gives the family and the political associates the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, Olabiyi stated.
