The First Lady of Iwajowa Local Government Area, Mrs Aminat Moromoke Oyewumi has taken a decisive action through sensitisation and awareness campaign against all forms of Gender Based Violence being practiced to diminish or denigrate the dignity of all women and girl-child across the Local Government area.
The campaign activities which took place in various towns and communities today majorly centred around how women in the Local Government can be released from the shackles of various sexual violence, Female Genital Mutilation, harmful widowhood practices and child marriage.
The awareness campaign according to the First Lady was to alert the general public, especially our women, that such practices are still in existence and women must be ready to speak up whenever they experience it.
In the same vein, Mrs Aminat Oyewumi ascertain that there’s a Justice and Safety Authority for women who may experience any Gender Based Violence in the society. And that there’s a Response Care Support System through the Office of the First Lady of Oyo State, Engr. Mrs Tamunominini Makinde for any victim of GBV in the State.
In conclusion, special gratitude was extended to the Office of the First Lady of Oyo State for providing leadership for all women in the State through various awareness campaigns.
