The ancient town of Iseyin, Iseyin Local Government, Area of Oyo State had on Thursday, 22nd February received people of eminence, sequel to the commissioning of Iseyin Central Mosque.
Among eminent personalities who were in attendance are the Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde, Deputy Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad who doubles as the President General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs(NSCIA).
Also in attendance were Retired Justice Aboki of the Supreme Court, Representatives of University of Ibadan Muslim Community, Alhaji Rasak Oladejo, Bishop of Oyo Diocese, Rev. Emmanuel Badejo and FOMWAN Representatives.
Not only but also, Former Chairman, Nigerian Communication Commission(NCC), Professor Adeolu Akande, the Senator for Oyo North Senatorial District, Senator Fatai Buhari, member of the House of Representatives for Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola Federal Constituency, Hon Oyeshina Oyedeji, former Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, and Hon. Shinna Peller respectively.
The Traditional Rulers across Oke-Ogun, illustrious sons and daughters of the town, and other people of glitz and glams were not left behind as their presence added value and colours to the epoch making occasion.
The Renowned Legal luminary, who doubles as the Chief Host, Alhaji Ahmed Raji SAN who had been receiving the Guests a day penultimate programme, had in his opening remarks noted that the commissioning of Iseyin Central Mosque that brought all regardless of religious, tribal and political differences together was for the unity of all Nigerians.
He however showered encomiums on retired Justice Aboki of the Supreme Court for his presence, noting that the architectural design for the mosque was gotten from him.
Iseyin-born legal luminary, thanked Sultan of Sokoto, The Governor of Oyo State and other eminent personalities who thronged the programme without minding the distance and current situation of the country.
In his own remarks, the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde lauded the legal luminary for his efforts towards the beautification of the edifice, betterment of Oyo State and however debunked the receipt of N30b from the Federal Government.
The Sultan of Sokoto, who did the commissioning of the mosque enjoined all and sundry to close all ranks and allow peace, unity, love and togetherness to reign across the country, regardless of religious, tribal and political dichotomies.
In their goodwill messages, Rev. Emmanuel Badejo, Bishop of Oyo Diocese who was represented by Ladepo, Senator Fatai Buhari and Alhaji Rasak Oladejo congratulated Iseyin Muslim Community, Lawyer Raji and others whose efforts culminated in possibility of the refurbished mosque.
