The hope of resuscitating moribund federal projects and the rehabilitation of dilapidated General Hospital in Okaka town has been rekindled by Okaka Stakeholders with a promise of quick intervention.
This resolve was expressed by prominent sons and daughters of Okaka land at a stakeholders forum meeting held at Baptist Basic School, Okaka under the auspices of the Olokaka of Okaka land,Oba Abdul Azeez Olatunji Ayoola Ogelende the fourth and the Convener, Okaka Stakeholders Forum Dr Chief Abdul Lateef Ajibike.
At the programme which was also graced by some political bigwigs in Oyo State and friends of Okaka town including Hon Dele Adeola; member,Oyo State House of Assembly and Iyaloja General in Oyo State; Chief Mrs Azeezat Folashade Nurudeen Abeo Oosa stressed the need to set aside individual and political differences in order to work for the progress of the ancient town.
While speaking,Hon Dele Adeola who represents Iseyin/Itesiwaju constituency in the State House of Assembly, assured the people of Okaka that the state government is committed to making life meaningful for the people of the state most especially through the provision of basic infrastructure.
He disclosed that the needs and yearnings of Okaka people have been captured in the 2024 budget.
The Olokaka of Okaka land also lend credence to the need to develop and explore the potential tourist sites in Okaka land and admonished all okaka Indigene to contribute their quota in developing the town for the benefit of the incoming generation.
In their separate remarks Okaka Community Chairman Rev Jeremiah Adeosun,Vice Chairman Okaka Stakeholders Forum Alh Kolawole Sobaloju,PDP Councillor Ward5 Hon Olusola Bolanle,Alh Sefiu of Zanthosh filling station okaka and Alh Bashir Arapa among others appreciated the convener of the forum Dr Ajibike for his initiative and unanimously called for the unity and oneness of the people of the town.
Commodore Edward Adedokun (rtd) who is also a son of the soil in his separate interview admonished okaka Indigenes to stay united and show more commitment to the development of their fatherland.
He also called for proper documentation of cultural heritage in the town to promote tourism.
While briefing the stakeholders on the situation of things at the Federal Government Colleges of Agriculture in the town, Deputy Provost, Federal College of Animal Production Dr Isaac Olusegun Ayodeji who represented the provost Dr A,O Osinbo and Dr Julius Adedeji of the Federal College of Agriculture, Outreach Center Okaka who represented Provost, Federal College of Agriculture Moor Plantation Ibadan Dr Mrs E.O Augustus explained the various steps that they have taken towards making the two institutions functional.
They therefore promised to form a robust synergy with the people of the town towards rebranding the two citadels of learning.
The Matron, Okaka, General Hospital Mrs O.O Olabiyi appealed to the state government and concerned Indigenes to look into the plight of the patients and staff of the hospital through quick rehabilitation of health facility.
At the occasion, woman of virtues,Oyo State Iyaloja in General Chief Mrs Azeezat Folashade Nurudeen Abeo Oosa who was honoured by the Olokaka of okaka land as Yeye oge of okakaland said the state government is making efforts to put smile on the faces of market traders through a data base collection process.
She used the occasion to debunked the insinuation of power tussle in the appointment of iyaloja of Oyo State and affirmed that she is the authentic,endorsed and recognized Iyaloja General in the state by all first class obas across the state.
Azeezat Abeo Oosa used the occasion to present her palliative support scheme to women in okaka with cash gifts to empower traders in the town.
