The Federation of Iwajowa Students Association (FISA National Body) has conferred its esteemed “Exemplary Leadership Award” on Hon. Olagbenro Musiliu Adewale, the immediate past Chief of Staff of Iwajowa Local Government.
This recognition celebrates his outstanding contributions to leadership, student development, and community service.
The award ceremony, held on January 3 at the Amazing Grace Hotel Hall, Iwere-Ile, was a historic gathering of prominent stakeholders, past and present leaders, and distinguished awardees associated with FISA.
Hon. Olagbenro’s journey into leadership began during his student days, rooted in vibrant student unionism.
In 2006, he was appointed Secretary to the FISA Electoral Committee (FEC), playing a pivotal role in one of the most keenly contested elections in the association’s history.
This election brought Com. Jide Ajia, also known as the “Radical Journalist,” to the position of FISA President for the 2006/2007 academic session during which the then Chairman of Iwajowa LG, Hon. Yakubu Adebisi approved an upward review of students’ bursary from the first time since its inception in the year 2000.
In 2007, Hon. Olagbenro rose to prominence when he was elected FISA President. This coincided with his emergence as the Departmental Secretary of the Nigeria Association of Town Planning Students during his studies at the Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke.
Olagbenro’s ability to effectively juggle these dual responsibilities underscored his exceptional leadership skills and dedication to service.
Beyond his student leadership achievements, Hon. Olagbenro built an impressive political career. Before he was appointed Chief of Staff to the immediate past Chairman of Iwajowa Local Government, Hon. Adebare Jelili Oyinloye, he held several significant roles, including Ward Youth Leader, Local Party Executive, and Ward Campaign Coordinator.
He also served as a Returning Officer for the Oyo State People’s Democratic Party (PDP), overseeing various party congresses and primary elections at the local level.
The “Exemplary Leadership Award” reflects Hon. Olagbenro’s enduring legacy of commitment and impactful leadership, inspiring a new generation of student leaders and political actors in Iwajowa and beyond.
