A couple of days ago, I came across the latest in the series of Prophecies as released by the Primate Elijah Ayodele.
With due respect to the man of God, I have stopped attaching so much importance to his series of political Prophecies.
I remember vividly well how he prophesied, very recently and asked Seyi Makinde to start preparing for the 2027 presidential election.
It does look like the Governor of Oyo state took the prophecy very seriously because a series of events from the Governor actually suggested so.
Last week, the same Prophet Ayodele said that except the APC in Oyo state presents a particular member the House of Representatives as its gubernatorial candidate, the Party will lose the 2027 race in Oyo state.
Like I said, I didn’t set so much in store for the purported prophecies of Primate Ayodele but just this afternoon, I came across another story which said that a particular ” Abuja APC ” has adopted Bayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power as the gubernatorial candidate for the Oyo APC in 2027.
My first intuition was to just pass but on a second thought, I felt like, wait a minute, how come the worldly forces are not aligning with the ” heavenly” anointing of Primate Ayodele?
I will address the the purported adoption of Bayo Adelabu by the ” Abuja APC”.
I have a lot of issues with the story.
Naturally, as a journalist, I always have issues with stories credited to ” sources which craved anonymity” or ” who doesn’t have the authority to speak” about the issues in discussion.
Secondly, I developed goosebumps when the story said that the venue of the” adoption ” was the presidential Villa and that the wife of the president actually presided.
With due respect to the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who herself is also a politician, having been elected as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Not only that, she is the wife of the political wizard himself and president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I can confidently say that the woman would never involve herself in such a meeting, which is capable of polarizing the party further in Oyo state.
I saw a pattern which is deliberate and further targeted against the former First Lady of Oyo state, Chief Mrs. Florence Ajimobi.
About a week ago, a faceless Group alleged that the former First Lady of Oyo state is attempting to take over the structures of the Party in Oyo state without providing particulars.
This present report also targeted the former First Lady and described her as someone ” leading a bloc”.
There is no way you will read through the story and you won’t have questions bothering you about the sanity behind the pictured arrangements contained there in.
That someone would conceive of an idea of choosing a gubernatorial candidate for Oyo APC with the few names listed to the exclusion of numerous stakeholders not listed appear to be a joke taken too far.
I also don’t seem to get the reason why those behind the story are developing a perceived phobia about Chief Mrs. Florence Ajimobi.
Let me say here that I have never met the woman and I’m sure she doesn’t know me but truth be told, someone somewhere is very uncomfortable with the political stature of the former First Lady.
Those who are behind the story have not and are not doing the purported ” anointed candidate” any good.
On a lighter note, assuming the story is even true, I will like to seek the opinion of the Minister about the theory of ” jagbaism” because the last time I checked, Party Primaries are not conducted in the Villa.
From the story, it seems ” jaa gba” is a good method, so far it favors the Minister or what?
My opinion about the two stories, that of Prophet Ayodele’s vision and the ” adoption” strategy is that whosoever wants to be the gubernatorial candidate of the APC in 2027 will first and foremost, have the Oyo APC to contend with.
We are where we are today just because some people fought tooth and nails against what they perceived to be a politics of exclusion.
The goal post will not change. Those who fought against ” jaa gba” in 2023 should perish that same idea just because the shoe has shifted to the other foot.
